Program Associate  

 

The U.S.–Indonesia Society (USINDO) Jakarta Office is seeking a qualified Program Associate to contribute to its mission of expanding US-Indonesia mutual understanding in politics, economics, history, culture, educational exchanges and partnerships, and strengthening the non-official dimension of the U.S.-Indonesia bilateral relationship. This is a full-time,remote work position. Due to the remote nature of the work, the selected applicant is given the flexibility to arrange their daily working schedule, with the understanding that the tasks and responsibilities given to them will be completed in a satisfactory manner and within the expected timeframe as conveyed by the Jakarta Country Representative.  

 

Responsibilities

 

Under the supervision of, and in collaboration with, the USINDO Representative in Jakarta:  

 

  • Conceptualize, program, and manage USINDO/Indonesia programs and initiatives, including but not limited to USINDO Summer Studies Program, USINDO GRASP (Graduate School Application Preparation), Ed Masters Fellowship, and others.  

     
  • Devise ways and means to increase US-Indonesia educational exchanges and preparation for studies in US Graduate Schools, including:    

     
  • Support the implementation of USINDO GRASP activities including USINDO’s Critical Thinking & Digital Literacy course and Interactive Zoom Sessions with US Graduate Schools.  

     
  • Work with USINDO Washington office on increasing the admittance of Indonesian graduate students who would qualify for LPDP scholarships.  

     
  • Understand and monitor U.S. – Indonesia higher education opportunities and challenges including LPDP, faculty exchanges, partnerships, collaboration, etc.  

     
  • Assist USINDO develop creative ways to use its NGO role in support of educational exchange goals.  

     
  • Assist planning and implementation of USINDO Summer Studies Program:  

       
    • Design and write a draft schedule and substance of the Program in coordination with USINDO Jakarta Representative and on the program components.  

       
    • Plan and organize visits to government officials, experts, academics, NGOs, and private sector representatives.  

 

  • Assist in implementing other USINDO programs such as Open Forums and Special Events.  

     
  • Assist with administrative and logistical arrangement of the above programs.  

     
  • Assist other USINDO Jakarta staff with USINDO administrative and logistical arrangements.  

     

    Required Qualifications  

     
  • Indonesian national  
  • Bachelor’s degree  
  • Available in June or latest July 2023 for minimum of one year, subject to satisfactory performance  
  • Effective writing and verbal communication skills in English and Bahasa  
  • Familiarity with U.S. higher education system or experience attending university in the U.S. is preferable but not mandatory  
  • Excellent planning / organizational skills, high efficiency, flexible attitude, eye for detail  
  • High level of proficiency in social media and web content management  
  • Ability to:  
    • work both independently and as part of a team  
    • deal productively with Indonesian and US government officials  
    • meet deadlines  
    • speak publicly when needed  
    • handle multiple tasks and shifting priorities  
    • contribute advice and judgment to decisions and in the performance of complex and difficult duties  
  • Sense of responsibility for high quality and timeliness of work  
  • High interpersonal communication and cross-cultural skills  

 

 

Additional Preferred Qualifications  

 

  • Contacts/ability to connect effectively with Indonesian government ministries, Congress/parliament, Indonesian private sector, or U.S. universities.  
  • Knowledge of / interest in Indonesian and US government and political systems  
  • Experience in/knowledge of U.S. higher education programs  

 

Salary will be determined based on qualifications.
