Project Summary:

The six-year USAID-funded Harmoni activity will promote tolerance and inclusion and reduce the risk of violent extremism. Harmoni will focus support on interventions that are narrowly targeted towards communities and individuals most at risk of radicalization, with a mandate to build the resilience of key Indonesian institutions – governmental, civil society, religious, and community-based – that represent the frontline in preventing violent extremism in Indonesia. Position Summary:

The Senior Gender Advisor will work with the technical team to integrate gender-sensitive practices across all Harmoni programming. The Advisor will identify gender roles and disparities related to intolerant and extremist behaviors and organizations in Indonesia. This position will also provide partners and grantees needed support to ensure gender equality and social inclusion (GESI) practices are incorporated into implementation processes and their monitoring, evaluation and learning (MEL). This position is a part-time and short-term position, with approximately four months of LOE between October 2023 and October 2024.

 

Responsibilities:

·         Lead mainstreaming of gender and social inclusion priorities across all Harmoni programming.

·         Support continued key messaging of gender equity and social inclusion in collaboration with the Strategic Communications Advisor.

·         Review and revise activity designs, MEL plans, and related indicators to ensure alignment with USAID gender policies as well as local guidance or restrictions that Harmoni may face while collaborating with activity/grant technical leads and the MEL Specialist.

·         Draft gender-related success stories and provide narrative for gender-related sections of all Harmoni deliverables including, the annual work plan, quarterly and final report.

·         Design and deliver trainings to project staff, partners, and USAID personnel, as appropriate, on gender equity and social inclusion.

·         Build strong working relationships with USAID and Harmoni partners, grantees, and counterparts related to project implementation.

·         Perform other tasks as assigned by the Chief of Party.

 

Qualifications:

·         Bachelor's degree required. Master’s degree preferred.

·         Minimum eight years of relevant work experience is required. 

·         Experience with project communications, including success stories and progress reports, preferred. 

·         Experience with gender equity and/or social inclusion programs.

·         Ability to meet tight deadlines, prioritize among multiple tasks, tackle complex issues, and work as part of a team. 

·         Strong organizational, analytical, attention to detail, interpersonal, and communication skills.

·         Strong familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite applications.

·         Professional speaking and writing proficiency in English required.
