Sundaland Program Director

Konservasi Indonesia is hiring Sundaland Program Director that responsible for providing strategic oversight and programmatic direction for a regional program implementation. S/he is responsible for overall program management and ensuring that program strategies, initiatives, outcomes and impact advance Konservasi Indonesia human development and conservation priorities as well as the supporting operations needed with technical help from Operation and support.  Duties are diverse and include designing and implementing program and conservation strategies, team and project management, technical oversight and monitoring, and capacity building. Sundaland Program Director ensures compliance with internal policies, program and funding agreements and requirements. 

Sundaland Program Director plays a key role in securing program funding, developing project proposals, managing funding relationships with key partners and build good relations with prominent network and stakeholder in the region and as necessary at national level. S/he regularly represents Konservasi Indonesia and builds alliances and engages key external stakeholders including government and non-government officials, donors, and other parties critical to program success. This position works closely with staff throughout the organization to ensure the program forms an integral part of achieving organization wide goals. S/he identifies capacity gaps and implements measures to build capacity both internally and with external partners.  This position manages regional staff and responsible for smooth offices operation under his/her supervision. 

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

        Develop program strategies, objectives, work plans and metrics. 

        Monitor, measure, interpret, and share results on a regular basis. Develop progress and distribute financial reports; identify and implement refinements in work plans and strategies.

        Work across centres/units to ensure that program activities are aligned with organization conservation and division priorities. 

        Ensure program compliance with internal policies, funding agreements and local requirements.

        Identify capacity building needs within the team. Implement and monitor efforts to address capacity gaps. 

        Lead information sharing and cross collaboration within internal and partners. Build stakeholder understanding and support through proactive communication efforts included fact sheets, statistics, and related communication materials.  

        Hold conferences and other learning events to share best practices and lessons learned. 

        Effectively engage stakeholders including donors, government and NGOs, technical colleagues, and other partners important to program success.  

        Represent the organization externally. Serve as a trusted and visible point of contact for Konservasi Indonesia. Identify opportunities for program growth and development.

        Play a lead role in ensuring program financial sustainability by identifying funding opportunities including seeking for opportunities for program expansion to other sites within Sundaland region. Regularly partner with internal teams on funding proposals and regional/global fundraising efforts.

        Perform related duties as assigned.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

      Bachelor’s Degree and 10 years or more related work experience.  Advanced degree preferred.

        Program or project management experience, preferably in the global conservation, NGO, advocacy, or related for-profit arena.

        Excellent technical and analytical skills.

        Excellent organization and time management skills.  

        Team player and able to work effectively with diverse work groups in a multicultural environment.

        Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

        A record of success in influencing and partnering with key stakeholders and raising funds. 

        Proven ability to multitask and meet priorities.  Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities and under minimal supervision.   

        Fluency in English required.

 

 

PREFERRED

·     Working experiences in one of Konservasi Indonesia priority landscapes; North Sumatra and West Java.

·     Advance degree in environmental science, natural resources management, conservation science, climate, or development related program

 

 

 

WORKING CONDITIONS

        This position may require domestic and international travel (30% or more). 

        Ability to work in remote locations or under difficult working conditions.
