Project Overview and Role:

MENTARI (Menuju Transisi Energi Rendah Karbon) is an ambitious four-year programme that formally started on 6th January 2020. The programme aims to deliver inclusive economic growth and poverty reduction in Indonesia, by supporting the uptake of low carbon energy. Led by the British Embassy Jakarta, MENTARI is implemented by Palladium International Indonesia in consortium with Castlerock Consulting and Hivos. The programme has a specific focus on developing the low carbon energy sector to best support the disadvantaged communities, and specifically those in eastern Indonesia. By working closely with the Government of Indonesia and other stakeholders to improve the enabling environment and drive investment, MENTARI will demonstrate the possibilities of low carbon energy for Indonesia's economic development, job creation and social inclusion, while helping to mitigate climate and environmental impacts.

 

Primary Duties and Responsibilities: 

MENTARI is seeking to engage an individual in the role of Renewable Energy (RE) Grant Specialist who will supervises the process of applying for grants offering funding opportunities relevant to the MENTARI Program.


Duties: Under the direction of the Brokerage Investment Lead, the Grant Specialist will:
1. Develop grant proposals for MENTARI Programme;
2. Prepare the guidelines, selection criteria, TOR of Grant Scheme to be introduced or applied to the applicants;
3. Administer andoversees the pre-award and post-award grant application process at MENTARI Programme;
4. Examine the terms and conditions of individual grants to confirm the applicant is eligible, and then files a grant application;
5. Review drafts of proposals, including project narratives, budget, and other supporting documentation, in a timely manner to meet grant application deadlines.
6. As needed, serve as a liaison to granting organizations on behalf of MENTARI.
7. Maintain database of grants submitted and received, and report out monthly to the MENTARI team and Brokerage Lead;
8. Submit letters of inquiry, proposals, reports, and other correspondence to MENTARI;
9. Performs other duties as assigned, including occasional special events or other departmental support.
10. Develop budgets, write some or all of the grant application, and provide information for grant officers or supervising administrators.

Required Qualifications:

I. Have extensive knowledge of Grant scheme in identifying grants potentially applicable to the MENTARI the specialist works for, using resources like grant listings and automated databases
II. Be detail oriented with very strong organization skills;
III. Have ability to multi-task and problem solve;
IV. Be comfortable taking appropriate initiative;
V. Bachelor's degree or equivalent required; training or experience in a nonprofit setting preferred;
VI. At least five years of professional experience in grant or project management, especially with international donor-funded activities, and writing and securing grants required;
VII. Ability to effectively coordinate multiple projects at the same time under MENTARI Programme;
VIII. Ability to work well within MENTARI team, and to complete multiple tasks effectively and efficiently;
IX. Ability to effectively communicate in English, both orally and in writing
