DAI - Project Director

 DAI is seeking qualified candidates for the Project Director position on a project addressing labor exploitation in the ASEAN region. This will be a full-time position based in Jakarta, Indonesia with an anticipated start on or about February 15th, 2022.

 

POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Project Director will be called upon to manage this new project and new approach to dealing with this challenging issue. S/he will be responsible for engaging the relevant counterparts as a partner and to formally address this issue head-on, providing over all management and administrative leadership to the project. S/he will be responsible for ensuring that activity components are results-oriented, deliverables are high quality, and reporting is relevant and timely. The Project Director will be required to manage and ensure quality relationships with counterparts (firms, business associations, government, other) and guide the technical staff toward achieving the project’s results while maintaining the day-to-day operational oversight and administration of the project and supervision of support staff.  The Project Director will support performance management, by tracking the status of indicator targets and coordinating technical teams, grants, and subcontractors in making progress towards results as outlined in the Task Order, the Work Plans, and the Monitoring and Evaluation Plan (MELP). S/he will oversee the overall performance of senior technical, implementation, monitoring, and finance staff including an M&E Officer, Project Manager, Project Coordinator/Accountant and technical consultants. This position will also oversee the timely preparation and submission of quality and accurate deliverables, reports, and other communications products. The Project Director will support resolving technical and operational issues, identifying innovations to address bottlenecks, and facilitating opportunities for staff capacity building.

 

OBJECTIVES AND DUTIES:

·       Ensure all project activities are aligned with approved annual work plans, as well as compliant with donor regulations and DAI policies.

·       Manage long-term staff, consultants, and subcontractors to ensure the timely completion of reporting and technical deliverables.

·       Provide technical direction, overall planning and management of activities, and higher-level administrative and financial oversight.

·       Oversee design and implementation of activities, ensuring appropriate design, procedurally correct development, sound implementation, active monitoring and evaluation, and timely activity completion. Closely monitor activity schedule, cost, and quality issues.

·       Establish and manage relationships and serve as the principal liaison with U.S. donor counterparts, government officials, and other relevant stakeholders on program communications and technical implementation activities.

·       Develop and maintain relationships with key institutions, such as other international donors, private sector actors, NGOs, and research bodies critical to the success of the project.

·       Communicate effectively about the project and its activities, goals, and achievements Responsible for successful outreach and positive relationship building with key stakeholders in assigned technical areas.

·       Coordinate with home office staff members to ensure project receives all necessary resources.

·       Provide timely and accurate reporting to donor on all program areas.

·       Represent the project through written or verbal presentations as requested. Regularly communicate with the Home Office Project Team Director regarding project planning and implementation, problem identification and rectification.

·       Provide technical support in all program areas, as needed.

·       Other management duties, as required.

 

Qualifications:

·       Citizen of one of the ten ASEAN Member States

·       Minimum of five years of experience managing international cooperation projects, preferably working with ASEAN.

·       Experience establishing and maintaining systems for project operations.

·       Proven success serving in a leadership role for a project addressing capacity building to effectively respond to forced labor, child labor and/or human trafficking, preferably in the fisheries sector.

·       Proven experience maintaining working relationships with project stakeholders, and engaging in coalition building among governments, private sector, and civil society.

·       Proven diplomacy skills and experience working in fast-paced environment.

·       Fluency in English is required.
