ORGANIZATION BACKGROUND

The Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS) is a US non-profit, tax-exempt, private organization established in 1895 that saves wildlife and wild places by understanding critical issues, crafting science-based solutions, and taking conservation actions that benefit nature and humanity. With a presence in more than 60 nations, WCS has amassed the biological knowledge, cultural understanding and partnerships to ensure that vibrant, wild places and wildlife thrive alongside local communities.

SCOPE OF WORK

WCS provides support to government partners in handling of trading of protected and endangered wildlife and plants through training. WCS are digitising training material to broaden delivery options using a Moodle learning management system. This project involves creating visually engaging eLearning course templates and creating the administrative structure in Moodle to streamline student enrolment, assignment submissions, grading and other reporting functions.

ASSIGNMENT DESCRIPTION

The contractor will support the development of a learning management system to deliver content in Indonesia, Viet Nam and Mozambique, and will involve the following activities:

  • Create Moodle course templates for visually engaging content.
  • Using H5P, work with course designers to create templates for interactive learning activities, hosted in the LMS.
  • Set up administrative systems in Moodle for student management, and assignment submissions and grading.
  • Set up reporting systems in Moodle.
  • Create user guides for the WCS team.

SKILLS REQUIRED

  • Extensive experience developing eLearning content in Moodle, including familiarity with available plugins.
  • Extensive experience creating interactive activities with H5P or similar Moodle-compatible tools.
  • Excellent English language verbal and written communication skills.
  • Good attention to detail and ability to produce materials finished to a high quality.
  • Competent with Microsoft Office (in particular, Word, Excel and PowerPoint) and Google Suite.
  • Able to work independently with limited supervision.

As this is a remote assignment and can be delivered from any location, the consultant must have their own reliable internet connection (strong enough to join regular video calls and handle the transfer of large files).

ADDITIONAL SKILLS

  • Experience setting up Mobile Device Management systems.
  • Fluency in a second language, preferably a Southeast Asian language, particularly Bahasa Indonesia or Vietnamese.
  • Familiarity with Asana or other project collaboration platforms.
