 SurfAid is a non-profit organization which aims to improve the health, wellbeing and self-reliance of people living in isolated regions connected to us through surfing. 

SurfAid is running a 5 year Nutrition–Sensitive Agriculture (NSA) program called NUSATANI since October 2019, implemented in Parado Sub-district, Bima District, NTB Province and Laboya Barat sub-district, Sumba Barat District, NTT Province. Nutrition–Sensitive Agriculture is an approach that seeks to maximise agriculture’s contribution to positive nutrition outcomes.


We are recruiting a new PROJECT MANAGER NUSATANI - SUMBA as part of our dynamic team to manage the implementation of the NUSATANI Program in Sumba Barat District.


This position will be based in Sumba Barat, mostly in Waikabubak (the district capital) with frequent field visits to our assisted villages in Laboya Barat sub-district.


Under direct supervision from and in a close coordination with NUSATANI Manager, the Project Manager will:

  1. Lead the field team in delivering program implementation, including monitoring & evaluation.

  2. Develop a strategic analysis to make the right decision for the field

  3. Build and maintain good relationships and coordination with relevant stakeholders.

  4. Manage Waikabubak field office and Laboya Barat basecamp on a daily basis.


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree from any major.

  •  5 years’ experience in managing a well established team in a development / non- profit organization. Experience with ‘direct implementation’ approach is preferred. 

  • Proven success in leading a work unit consisting of more than 10 staff in at least 2 different projects. 

  • Good understanding of community development principles. 

  • Able to build good relationships with local government stakeholders.

  • Familiar with issues of Mother Child Health, Food security, Agriculture and Water Sanitation.

  • Has a CAN DO attitude.

  • Strong writing skills for reporting, with good understanding of monitoring and evaluation requirements.

  • Experience and affinity to work and live in remote areas.

  • Experience in site management and long-distance management will be an added point.
