The GEF project “Mainstreaming Biodiversity Conservation and Sustainable Use into Inland Fisheries Practices in Freshwater Ecosystem of High Conservation Value (I-Fish) is to support on Indonesia, particularly the Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries (MMAF) Republic of Indonesia to address the main threats of its inland aquatic biodiversity and to remove the main barriers to conservation and sustainable use of its inland waters.  The project aims to strengthen the management framework for sustainable use of inland aquatic biodiversity to increase the protection of hig conservation-value freshwater ecosystems and their biodiversity in Indonesia.  The project is expected to increase the provision of ecosystem goods and services and enhance food security for local people dependent on inland fisheries for their livelihoods.  The project strategy is to mainstream conservation and sustainable use of inland aquatic biodiversity into resource development and management policies and processes, with demonstration of conservation and sustainable use of inland aquatic biodiversity in critical habitats at five sites in Kalimantan, Java and Sumatera, and effective monitoring and assessment.

The incumbent will perform the tasks assigned under the overall supervision of the Assistant FAO Representative (Program) in Indonesia and the direct supervision of National Project Manager (NPM) and in coordination with the National Consultants/Experts and FAO staff, will support the coordination, implementation and routine monitoring of the project. The incumbent will be responsible to undertake the following task:

·         Provides direct assistance to the National Project Manager and ensures smooth and efficient communication and information flow within the project team;


·         Collect relevant data and information both from the National Consultants and other related parties for Monitoring the project implementation against the processes and its schedules related to project outputs, products, tasks, etc. and informs the NPM and project team ahead of time on deadlines;


·         Provide support to the Project Management Unit, particularly the Project manager for preparing the Term of Reference of meetings, prepares the meeting organization, drafting meeting minutes and monitors follow-up activities;


·         Provides assistance in the coordination of supporting services of meetings, training, workshops etc., and events of the Project in collaboration with other staff of the country office;


·         Maintains project activity calendar/schedules; monitors changes and communicate relevant information to appropriate project staff;


·         Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Minimum Requirements Candidates should meet the following requirements:


·         First level university degree is required. Degree in fisheries science, natural resource management or a related field is desirable;


·         Knowledge and 5 years experience in general project management and monitoring processes;


·         Experience in administrative support functions including note taking and meeting arrangements;


·         Demonstrated good organizational skills in supporting a team of consultants/experts


·         Demonstrated good client orientation;


·         Familiar with computer skill such as MS office, Power Point, excel, MS Words;


·         Excellent communication, writing and presentation skills in English.

Languages: Fluency in written and spoken English and Bahasa Indonesia

Duration and Commitment: Full time (October 2018 – September 2019) with possible extension during project period and depend on the performance

  1. Well maintained project schedules related to outputs, products, tasks, etc
  2. Smooth communication and information flow within the project team
  3. Meeting minutes completed in a timely manner and shared among project team
  4. Weekly and monthly project monitoring reports are compiled in a timely manner

 

 

Monthly reports at the end of each month.
